Light Fly, Fly High

"Light fly, fly high" is a documentary about Thulasi, a young, Indian woman who has started boxing as a way out of poverty. Thulasi is dalitt, and since she is pariah and as an unmarried woman in India there are almost no possibilities to make something out of life. But Thulasi refuses to give in. She has chosen to go her own way, and started boxing to fight her way up and out. That is at least the dream. If she becomes a successful boxer she can find a state job and provide a life for herself. It is not until then she can be free to live the life she wants.

She is a true boxing talent and has defeated the reigning world champion several times. Even so, Thulasi still trains in the little local club in Tamil Nadu. In a country with a lot of corruption and an ongoing discrimination of people from the lower parts of the social hierarchy, it seems almost impossible to reach for new goals. She's been fighting for ten years and time is running out.
